Ziemia: Our Stories Are Written in Soil, 2018, 3' diameter ceramic orb atop a native plant garden
Created in collaboration with residents of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Ziemia takes the form of a ceramic sphere--fired out of Greenpoint clay and glazed with soil contributed by residents from places that represent their identity-- atop a native meadow garden in McGolrick Park. The sculpture monumentalizes the neighborhood's many cultures, serves as a locus for community programing, and carries personal significance for the participants who help shape it.
